New Gifts

$183M

Dear friends in Christ,
As we reflect on 2024, I find myself filled with gratitude and awe at what God has done through your generosity. It has been a year of profound blessings and unprecedented impact. Not only that, but we celebrated the 225th anniversary of the Foundation in 2024. Centuries of generosity have brought us to this place.

This past year, the Foundation received more new gifts than in any other year of our history — more than $183 million. This total represents a 33% increase over the previous year and surpasses even our previous high in 2021, during the height of the pandemic.

In a world where uncertainty looms large, God continues to nurture a culture of growing generosity in the life of our church and beyond. The pandemic may have shifted many things in our society, but perhaps most remarkably it stirred something lasting and beautiful in the hearts of Christians: an enduring desire to give more, to serve more, to help more. Your gifts are not just numbers. They represent impact — in congregations, communities, and ministries here at home and around the globe.

In 2024 alone, we distributed $131 million to mission. Since I began my time at the Foundation, from 2010 to 2024, we have disbursed an extraordinary $1.313 billion to mission and ministry in over 80 countries, in many cases amidst incredibly dire and challenging circumstance. That is a staggering witness to the faithfulness and generosity of this community, and to the transforming power of God at work through us.

As we give thanks for 225 years of ministry and look ahead, I believe we are being invited to imagine even greater possibilities. May our generosity continue to grow, but not just in numbers, but in love, in faith, and in the reach of our witness to Christ.

With gratitude and hope,

President and CEO

We have a deep level of experience with church property. In fact, since 2012, we've helped more than 1,500 churches figure out what God would have them do next through Project Regeneration.

We've walked with churches as they realized they had more buildings than they needed — or when they decided merging with another congregation would honor God's call for their church. For others, the most faithful decision may have been to close, or to sell their property and use the proceeds to support causes they love in their community and around the world in perpetuity.

We continue to work with congregations, ministries, camps and conference centers, and more, as each one seeks to faithfully steward assets entrusted to them.

Our Ministry Relations Officers
At the heart of the Presbyterian Foundation's work are our Ministry Relations Officers (MROs) — dedicated professionals who walk alongside churches, ministries, and individuals to cultivate generosity and encourage faithful stewardship. With a deep understanding of both the financial and spiritual aspects of giving, they offer guidance and support to pastors, church leaders, and congregations, helping them turn their generosity into lasting impact. Whether assisting with financial and gift planning or leading conversations on stewardship, our MROs bring a ministry-first approach to their work, ensuring that each partnership is rooted in trust, faith, and shared mission.

Ministry Relations Officers are more than financial experts; they are church leaders themselves. Having served as pastors, elders, and denominational leaders, they understand the challenges and opportunities that ministries face. Their expertise in fundraising, planned giving, and endowment development allows them to provide tailored solutions for churches looking to grow participation and giving. From leading workshops on stewardship and generosity to working directly with pastors and church committees, MROs help congregations discern the right financial tools and strategies to sustain and expand their mission.

With field offices across the country, our Ministry Relations Officers are ready to walk with you — wherever you are. They are here to listen, to guide, and to help shape a future of faithful generosity. Whether your congregation is exploring new ways to engage in stewardship, seeking to grow an endowment, or looking for faith-aligned investment solutions, our MROs stand ready to serve. Together, we can ensure that the financial resources of today continue to support the ministry and mission of tomorrow.

Growing Endowment Funds for Ministries

A $100,000 permanent endowment fund placed with the Foundation in 1980 would have paid out over $542,658 to mission and have a principal value of $312,372 at the end of 2024. The average annual investment return was 7.63 percent.

Our experience in stewarding gifts from our fellow Presbyterians is unmatched. Endowments afford donors the ability to express their faith and establish enduring legacies that will be celebrated by future Presbyterians for generations to come.

As of December 31, 2024, we held approximately $972 million in 7,200 endowment funds that will support churches, schools, ministries, seminaries, and more — far into the future.

Introduced more than a decade ago, the Presbyterian Foundation's online giving program became a vital way for congregations to receive gifts during the pandemic. The availability of the tool long before it was critical helped many congregations transition more easily to an online format. Those who wanted to add online giving were able to do so with the help of our Ministry Relations Officers and operations team.

We support mission and ministry through conscientious financial management and investments that are consistent with Presbyterian values. Guided by the call for faithful stewardship, the Presbyterian Foundation and our subsidiary, New Covenant Trust Company, focus on enhancing societal and environmental impact through three socially responsible investment strategies: screening, shareholder advocacy, and transformational investing.

Partnering with Organizations

Connection is a core value of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Both individual Presbyterians and congregations gather together in mission to accomplish far more than they could separately. As a trusted partner in funding mission, the Presbyterian Foundation plays a unique role in helping these ministries accomplish the mission to which God has called them.
